Re: hypoglycemic- low sugar diet
Wed, May 31, 2006 - 7:31 AMno fried potato replacement...i DO have a sugar replacement though..
STEVIA is now your best friend.
do a google on it for all the good info.
get the white stuff...or liquid form. the green stuff is caca.
in short, its the dried extract from a plant from Peru, i believe.
they use it to sweeten their drinks there and its been around FOREVER.
it is totally safe for all sugar-sensitive people, as far as ive discovered, including diabetics, candida patients who are sensitive to the chemical sweeteners.
best bit is...its ALL NATURAL and you dont need much to make it sweet.
if you experience a slight aftertaste at first, you will adjust to it and before you know it, you wont notice it anymore. i dont think it ever bothered me.
stevia was my godsend during the candida elimination diet when i couldnt eat anything but proteins and veggies. i still use it over sugar whenever i can.
you can get it at your local health food store and trader joes is carrying it now too.
Get only the pure stevia powder. the stevia plus stuff is diluted and you just end up using more to get your desired effect. one bottle goes a longggg way.
happy health! -
