You guys may have read my last post about the lil' modified BFL diet I'm currently working on, and I'd like to ask a questions about tomatoes. I absolutely hate tomatoes and alot of the meals call for them, however I simply leave them out. By doing that what am I not getting?.. Because I would like to substitute them with something else. Not necessarily to put in my sandwich, but just something to munch on to substitute the tomoato.

Re: Tomatoes!!
Tue, May 4, 2004 - 4:24 PMMike,
I remember not liking tomatoes, too. But, then my (now ex) husband and I were visiting a couple that he'd known long before me. I didn't want to seem picky or rude when they served BLT's for a meal, so I ate one. I thought it was so good, that since then I'll eat two BLT's, just to make up for lost time :D
So, maybe try a tomato a little at a time. A bite here, a bite there. They may begin to not be so yucky to you. You may become able to tolerate them. You might even kinda, sorta begin to like them. -

Re: Tomatoes!!
Tue, September 21, 2004 - 2:34 PMTomatoes seem to be really trumped up as far as nutrition goes, but I have met countless people who don't like tomatoes. The macrobiotic diet restricts them because of their acidity, along with certain other vegatables. I think that if you have an aversion to some plant food, you could very well have an allergy or perhaps your body just doesn't want it or need it. For instance, i can eat garlic till the cows come home, but my husband gets sick to his stomach when he eats it. Do I force him to eat it? No, because he doesn't like it, it doesn't agree with him. I think bodies have great wisdom when it comes to pointing you towards or away from certain plant foods. I don't think you should make yourself eat them if you don't like them.

Re: Tomatoes!!
Sat, January 8, 2005 - 4:31 PMJust to toss my 2 cents in...tomatoes you get at the grocery store are NOTHING like home-grown, in season tomatoes. I won't TOUCH the nasty store tomatoes, but I'm all over the heirloom tomatoes at Whole Foods and any home grown tomatoes independents sell by the roadside.
But if you just HATE them no matter what, try shredded or pickled carrots. -
