Health/Fitness Magazine question

topic posted Sun, January 7, 2007 - 10:06 AM by  a
Hi everyone!

A few quick questions for all:

WHat is/are your favorite health/fitness magazine(s) and why?

What can be done to improve on them?

I'm doing a bit of research for my media class and would like to get your opinions/views...

thanks so much!

I like Trail Runner, and Ultra Runner. No fluff, no BS, and always interesting.

runner's world tends to be more "stuff" oriented. Sometimes I want to hear about gear, but not all the time.

I haven't read a lot of the triathlon magazines, I notice that some of them are good, some of them tend to be a bit heavy on the pro side. I'm not a pro, so I'm not always interested in how the pros are doing.

Self. It's got lots of practical tips and advice in it. I've found that some of the tips and advice they offer can be contrary.

Hey guys new here, but had to chime in on this, because it is something I have thought a bit about.

SELF and SHAPE (both mostly women's mags) really suck imo. I bought a cope of shape not long ago and two things really grated on my nerves. 1. The women were all SKINNY, not toned or muscular yet feminine, but skinny starving themselves models, the second thing that agrevaited me was the ratio of adds to content, I actually counted there were like 90some odd add pages and like only 68 pages of content.

HERS muscle and fittness is by far the BEST women's fittness mag on the market, imo. Lots of great excercises, and content, the women are toned and feminine, not bulky, or skinny. there are tearout sections in the back you can put in a folder and take to the gym with you, a definate plus!
